The Conestoga Speech team was first established as a co-op with Plattsmouth High School in the 2003-04 school year by superintendent Mark Sievering. During the 2005-06 school year, Jessica Corbin (Schlichtemeier) began teaching at Conestoga and served as a volunteer coach for Conestoga students who participated on the co-oped team. Within two years, Coach Schlichtemeier had increased interest in speech enough for Conestoga to establish its own team. During the 2007-08 school year, Conestoga began its first season as an independent team with 12 members. The team finished the season 4th at districts.
Since its establishment in 2007, the Conestoga "Trendsetters" Speech Team has produced numerous tournament sweeps championships, six ECNC conference awards (3rd Place 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2018) and was named district runner-up in 2011.
