Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Mark Skiles
I grew up on a farm in south central Nebraska, and I attended Wilcox Public Schools, graduating in 1988. In 1993, I received my undergraduate degree from Wayne State College, specializing in biology and Earth science education. I have also earned a Master's degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, focusing on secondary science education. I am very interested in scientific topics, so it is natural that I am a science teacher! During my career, I have been a science teacher and coach at Fairbury Jr./Sr. High School, Las Vegas High School, Papillion La Vista Public Schools, Ralston Public Schools, and Conestoga Jr./Sr. High School. I have taught 7-12 grade science classes, including biology, advanced biology, anatomy and physiology, sports medicine, zoology, physical science, critical issues in science, Earth science, Life science and General science. Growing up, I played basketball and football through high school, and I also participated in FFA, band, chorus and speech. I love to coach, and so far in my career I have coached boys and girls basketball, football, volleyball and wrestling.
My teaching duties at Conestoga include biology, advanced biology, zoology and anatomy and physiology. I will also serve as the head varsity girls basketball coach, as well as a junior high volleyball coach.
