Information I have been in the teaching profession for over 25 years. Accelerated Reader is the pride of my library program...what student does not need the opportunity to practice reading! If students have a reading level above 5.0 they are considered good readers...then their goal is to become well read. Until that point they are reading to practice to become good readers while the Accelerated Reader Program measures their quality and quantity of reading. The program also allows them the opportunity to practice using their higher order thinking skills when they take vocabulary and literacy skills tests along with the comprehension, computer generated, test over each book. Please take time to stop by the library to ask about the Accelerated Reader, STAR Reading, and Early Star Literacy programs. I would be happy to tell you all about the Big 6 Research Model as well.
