Meeting Minutes:

Date:  March 2, 2010

Location: Conestoga Elementary School Library

Meeting Called to Order by:  Trinity Jensen, PTO President

Time:  7:02 p.m.

Attendance:  8 - 3 Officers, 2 Staff, 3 Parents

Officer Reports:

Thank You's

  1. Thank you to Jenny Cook for organizing the food for Parent Teacher Conferences.  The feedback was great.
  2. Thank you to all of the supportive parents for bringing food for the teachers to eat during conferences!
  3. Thank you to Fran Cutler for organizing our February Box Tops Blitz.  We made $255.  Mrs. Gallagher's classroom won the popcorn party for collecting the most Box Tops - Congratulations!
  4. Thank you's were read from Mrs. Zahn's class for books given during the holidays from the PTO.

Treasurer:  Tracey Priefert

  1. The PTO account currently has a checking account balance of $1,908.01, a savings account balance of $7,120.32 for a total of $10,028.33.  $6,000 was moved from checking to savings to earn more interest.

Principal's Report:  Eric Dennis

  1.  Mr. Dennis was with his wife, who was home sick. No report.

Committee Reports:

Box Tops:  Fran Cutler

  • 2,550 Box Tops were collected for our February Box Tops Blitz, for a total of $255.  Please continue to save Box Tops.  If you don't want to keep your Box Tops over the summer, you can send them to school in a zip-lock bag with your child's name and his/her teacher's name included.

Skate City:  Trinity Jensen  

  • The Skating Party will be this Thursday,  March 4th at Skate City.  There will be no school on Friday, March 5th, so come out and enjoy the fun.

Basket Auction/Ice Cream Social:  Tracey Priefert/Peg Moore

  • The Basket Auction and Ice Cream Social will be  held on March 11th in the school cafeteria and stage.  The event will begin at 5:30, with bidding to end at 7:30.  The event will end at 8:00.  
  • The baskets have been put together and priced by Jen and Tracey, although some items are still coming in.
  • Requests for ice cream and toppings are being coordinated by Peg Moore.  

Spring Carnival:  Allison Welch and Theresa McClatchey

  • The Spring Carnival will be held on Friday, April 16th, in the Elementary School gym.  
  • Volunteer forms, for food and staffing of games, redemption, ticketing and concessions, will be sent out in early March.  Theresa McClatchey will be the chair gathering volunteers and donations.  Please give her your support.
  • The Redemption Center will use punch cards instead of counting tickets this year.

Teacher Appreciation Week:  Wendy Lowe

  • Teachers will receive lunch during Teacher Appreciation Week.  
  • Other activities will be decided.  

Old Business

  • Cook Books - Cook Books will be sold at the Basket Auction for a reduced price of $15.00.  They will also be sold at this price at our Spring Carnival. 

New Business

  • The Third Grade Classrooms will be experiencing a Sculpting demonstration and class through an Arts Grant given by the PTO.  The demonstration and instruction will be given by a local sculptor, David Belitz.
  • The Buy One Get One Book Fair is tentatively scheduled for May 6 and 7.
  • The Girl Scouts have requested to put a box in the entryway to collect new or gently used stuffed animals for their toy drive.  Bring yours to the Basket Auction!
  • A new stereo has been purchased for Mr. William's room so that the outdated equipment can be removed from his room and sound can be heard when he is using his computer to display information on the board.

Our next meeting will be held on April 6, 2010 at 7:00 in the Conestoga Elementary School Library.
