Presidential Educational Awards Presented

The Presidential Awards for Education were presented to a select group of Conestoga Elementary sixth graders during an awards ceremony. Students received a certificate and letter signed by President Bush and a pin. 14 sixth graders received the Presidential Award for Educational Achievement. The purpose of this award is to recognize students who show outstanding educational growth, improvement, commitment or intellectual development in their academic subjects. The criteria used at Conestoga for this award are as follows: 90% or higher average in academic subjects, OR 85% or higher achievement test scores in the areas of Reading and Math for the school years of 4th, 5th and 6th grade. 2 sixth graders were honored with the Presidential Award for Educational Excellence. The purpose of this award is to recognize academic success in the classroom. To be eligible for the President's Award for Educational Excellence, students must meet the following requirements: 90% or higher average in academic subjects AND 85% or higher scores on achievement tests in the areas of Math AND Reading (4th and 5th grade test scores).
