Elementary PTO: Meeting Minutes

Conestoga Elementary PTO

February 19, 2008

The meeting was held on February 12th, 2008 in the Conestoga Elementary Library. The meeting was delayed one week due to weather. The meeting was called to order at 7:03pm by President Peg Moore.

A Thank you from Mrs. Harvey for the purchase of the speed stackers was read.

Treasurer’s report – Currently have $25,689 of which $19,000 is held in CD’s. Preorders for cookbooks of $4300 was included in this amount.

Principal’s report – There is a possibility of Summer School. Should know in the next 2 month.

Purchase of new playground equipment was discussed. The equipment will add pieces to both existing playgounds. Currently have budgeted $15,000 for the purchase. Total for the next equipment with installation is $16,384, of which the school district with pick up the cost over the budgeted amount. It was moved and seconded to spend $15,000 to purchase equipment with installation to begin this spring. The next project will be a mobile laptop lab.

The Recipe books had preordered 214 copies. The total ordered for sale was 500. Sales will be at $25. There were a total of 1,149 recipes.

Grants presented by teachers and approved as budgeted at $300 or below are as follows:

5th Grade – Educational games, hands-on learning manipulatives & books .
2nd Grade – Science & Social Studies DVD’s & Video’s
6th Grade – Books
3rd Grade – Starlab Planetarium presentation & Mr. Popper’s Penguin’s Books

Grants presented by teachers and approved as budgeted at $100 or below are as follows:

Jr- Kindergarten – Smart Squares Kits & Leap Frog Cash Machine & Shopping Cart.
Deb Faith – Cooking ingredients
Speech – Eight Interactive Books for Phonology

Grants approved & seconded over the budgeted amounts are as follows:

Kindergarten – 15 copies of Sump Start Advanced Kindergarten not to exceed $340.
4th Grade – Fax Gilbert in the amount of $450.
Deb Leffler – Mobile Sand Tray & toy kit not to exceed $135.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:55pm
