Meeting Minutes

Date: January 10, 2008

Location: Conestoga Elementary School Library

Meeting Called to Order By: Peggy Moore, PTO President

Time: 7:05 p.m.

Attendance: 19 - 4 Officers; 9 Parents; 6 Staff

Officer’s Reports:

President: Peggy Moore

1. Thank you cards have been received from Mrs. Parson and her students, Mrs. Keene, and the Headstart classroom.

Treasurer: Wendy Lowe

1. The PTO account has a balance of $14,026 in checking, $9,085 in savings. A $7,000 CD will come due this month. A $12,000 CD will be established.

Principal: Eric Dennis

1. Conestoga Elementary will have two student teachers in the building in Mrs. Butler’s and Mrs. Keene’s rooms.
2. A total of 75 books have been donated to the adopted school in the Yucatan.
3. School assessments are going well. The reading assessments were completed in September. Math will be completed in February and Terra Nova will be completed in April.

Committee Reports:

1. Skating Party Committee. Speaker: Peggy Moore, president.
The skate party is scheduled for January 10, 2008.

2. Ice cream Social/Basket Auction Committee. Speakers: Peggy Moore, president; Jennifer Hosher, chair; Michelle Boyce, chair.
Ms. Bair will provide musical entertainment. A date will be set - February 28 is
the tentative date. Mrs. Hosher will be encouraging teachers to diversify their baskets. They will order seventeen buckets of ice cream.
3. Playground Committee. Speaker: Trinity Jensen, chair.
The committee is still in the process of receiving a final bid. Installation would be in April.
4. Carnival Committee. Speaker: Trinity Jensen, chair.
The carnival games and equipment have been reserved. The carnival will again feature the pirate ship inflatable and a younger child’s bouncer. Allison Welch coordinate volunteers. The committee is still looking for a pre-sales/ticket coordinator.
5. Spring Fundraiser Committee. Speakers: Wendy Lowe and Bobbi Keene, co-chairs.
The committee has received more than 1,000 recipes. Order forms will go home on January 15. The book will sell for $20 during pre-sales, $25 at time of delivery. Profits will depend on book sales with a possible profit of $6,000 to $10,000. The books will be delivered by April 1.

Old Business: none.

New Business:

1. Motion was made and seconded to grant $149.00 plus shipping and handling to purchase curriculum materials as outlined in the proposal submitted by Ms. Bair. Motion approved.
2. Motion was made and seconded to grant $99.84 plus any shipping and handling that might be incurred to purchase curriculum materials as outlined in the proposal submitted by Mrs. Sherwin. Motion approved.
3. Motion was made and seconded to approve $260 to purchase curriculum materials as outlined in the proposal submitted by Mrs. Harvey. Motion approved.
4. Motion was made and seconded to grant $300 to purchase curriculum materials as outlined in the proposal submitted by Mrs. Keene and Mrs. Wilson. Motion approved.

Announcements:

1. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Conestoga Elementary School Library.
