Meeting Minutes
Date: October 2, 2007

Meeting Called to Order By: Peggy Moore, PTO President
Time: 7:03 pm
Attendance: 15 - 4 Officers, 9 Parents, 1 Staff Member
Officer’s Report:
President: Peggy Moore
Thank you to:
1. Jenny Cook for organizing and to those that provided for the
conference food donations. The teachers enjoyed their dinners.
2. Thank you to Jean Parette for picking up the pizzas from
Mimi’s.
3. Linda Sparks and Loraine Cole for organizing the fall
fundraiser.
4. Sheryl Hanssen, Cami Hartig, and Jennifer Baier for helping with
the Cougar Tracks program.
Treasurer: Wendy Lowe
1. The PTO account currently has a balance of around $34,000. $12,000 of these funds are in short-term CDs. Another $12,000 of these funds are outstanding.
Principal’s Report: Eric Dennis
1. The fifth grade DARE assembly is scheduled for October 9.
2. The monthly assembly is scheduled for October 26 at 3pm. Cougar
Tracks accomplishments and birthdays will be recognized.
3. The Radio Disney Party has been opened to the entire school and
will take place as an open house on October 31 from 1:30-3:30 pm.
Parents are welcome to attend. Please contact your students
teachers for specifics if you are interested in attending.
Committee Reports:
1. Conference Food Donations. Speaker: Jenny Cook, chair.
The menu consisted of four soups, salads, and desserts for
Wednesday night and
Mimi’s Pizza for Thursday night. The teachers commented that the
soup and salads were wonderful. Mimi’s pizza sales broke even.
2. Fall Fundraiser Committee. Speaker: Linda Sparks, chair.
The fall fundraiser grossed approximately $19,460 in sales. The PTO
should
receive around $7,700. The delivery date is set for October 9 from
3-6 pm. Fran Cutler will chair the pick-up. A parent hotline is
posted on the customer order form for any order issues.
3. Fall Book Fair. Speaker: Linda Sparks, chair.
The fall book fair is scheduled for November 15 from 6-8 pm and
November 16.
Thursday night will offer a Klutz make-a-book family night.
Interested families can purchase the kit during a pre-sale and can
pick-up and assemble the kit during the book fair. A dinner option
might possibly be offered. Friday morning will feature a
Grandparents breakfast. Watch for more details.
4. Skate Party Committee. Speaker: Jenny Cook.
The fall skate party has been scheduled for November 8 at SkateCity
in Bellevue
from 6-8pm. Watch for more details.
Old Business: none.
New Business:
1. Curriculum and field trip grants were discussed. The programs
will be offered this year. No changes were made to the
programs.
2. A Boxtops Blitz will be held until October 31. Fran Cutler
offered to chair the blitz.
3. Motion was made and seconded to grant Mrs. Parson $175 for the
Nebraska Brass all-school assembly. Mrs. Parson will schedule the
assembly for later this school year. Motion approved.
4. The possibility of establishing a bereavement committee was
discussed. A crisis committee has already been established through
the school district. Mr. Dennis or Mrs. Leffler can be contacted
concerning the committee.
Announcements:
1. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 2 at 7:00 pm in the Conestoga Elementary School Library.
